2019 Chevy Equinox Repair

The Chevy Equinox debuted in 2005 and quickly became a family favorite. It’s affordable, comfortable, and practical. In addition, the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system is simple to navigate and comes with features such as Apple CarPlay, a wifi hotspot, and Alexa compatibility.

When this Chevy Equinox repair rolled into our shop, it was clear the damage was mostly cosmetic. Still, we performed an all-points inspection and checked the frame to ensure there wasn’t damage beyond what the eye could see. Check!

The first step to restoring this vehicle to new was to remove the door. We disconnected the battery and all wiring harnesses running to the door, like the power windows and locks. In addition, we disconnected the door stop by removing the bolt that holds it.

We marked the hinge positions and soaked the hinge bolts with penetrating oil to allow time for it to work before loosening. We removed the door and installed the new one without any issues.

Replacing the quarter panel would require a bit more work. We would need to locate and drill out factory welds. In addition to removing the quarter panel, we would need to be cautious not to cause more damage to other parts in the disassembly.

To fit the backing plates into the sectioning joints, it would require a clamp and weld process. Furthermore, to create a solid weld with minimum heat distortion, we would need to make stitch welds along the seam.

Lastly, we would need to clean and prepare all welded surfaces. Equally important to working like new, it had to look like new!

After a final inspection, this Chevy Equinox repair was complete.
