2024 Dodge Hornet R/T Hybrid Repair
The hornet name has a storied history, originating with the Hudson Hornet in 1951. It became popular due to its dominance in NASCAR stock car racing in the early 1950’s, and later popularized in the movie Cars.
Today’s Dodge Hornet R/T Hybrid is the most powerful CUV in its segment, boasting a 288 horsepower engine that goes 0-60 in just 5.6 seconds. The customizable tech and intuitive safety features are a far cry from the original, but it still retains a sleek design and winning spirit.
The before and after of this Dodge Hornet R/T Hybrid showcases a full front end replacement. Collision repair of a hybrid vehicle requires additional steps to consider the high-voltage electrical system. From insulated tools and specific welding techniques, our team was well-versed in safety practices and specialized equipment required to get the job done.
The first step was disabling the high-voltage electrical system, and being mindful of high-voltage lines. That allowed us to remove the front end and assess the damage beyond the exterior.
The radiator, radiator support, and a/c condenser were a total loss. These were relatively easy to remove and replace. In just a few days, we had parts and were prepared to make the repairs.
First up for the exterior was the front bumper assembly. This contained multiple ultrasonic parking sensors, radar sensors, and forward-facing cameras. We would need to replace and recalibrate this technology, and test the park assist features when complete.
The grille and headlamps would need to be replaced, as well as the right and left fenders. Lastly, a new hood was installed. It was looking like new again!
After a comprehensive inspection, this Dodge Hornet R/T Hybrid repair was ready for the road.
